Description
The Brunelleschi's Dome climb is the way to meet Florence's skyline at eye level. Filippo Brunelleschi's dome took about 15 years to build and, when finished, was larger than the ancient Pantheon, the biggest dome in Europe of its time. Its engineering still impresses today.
You go up on a timed ticket, which must be respected strictly, by 463 steps with no elevator. On the way you pass close to Zuccari and Vasari's Last Judgement fresco inside the dome, then come out on the terrace with a view over the city's best-known monuments.
- The Cathedral of Santa Maria del Fiore
- The Baptistery
- Giotto's Bell Tower
- The Opera del Duomo Museum
- The Santa Reparata Crypt
These are all included in a pass valid three days from the date you book. An audio guide app is included, and a live guide if you pick that option; download the POP GUIDE app before you arrive. Exchange your voucher for physical tickets at the meeting point.
Security checks can take 15 to 30 minutes. Shoulders and knees must be covered. Some sites close on certain days, such as the cathedral and crypt on Sundays. The climb is not recommended for people with mobility problems, claustrophobia or breathing issues.
