Description
Discover Palazzo Vecchio with entry & audio guide. Explore Medici history, Renaissance frescoes, and grand halls at your own pace in Florence.
Tower over the city of Florence — quite literally. With this skip-the-line ticket, you'll bypass the regular entrance queue and head straight up the Arnolfo Tower, the medieval bell tower of Palazzo Vecchio, one of Florence's most recognizable landmarks and the symbol of the city's civic power for over 700 years.
Standing at 94 meters tall, the tower has watched over Piazza della Signoria since the 13th century. Today, it offers what many visitors consider the single best panoramic viewpoint in Florence — rivaling even the Duomo's dome, but with shorter lines and far fewer crowds.
What to expect on your climb
Your ascent takes you through the same narrow stone staircases used by Florentine guards and officials centuries ago. Along the way, you'll pass through the tower's defensive battlements and small guard rooms, getting a real sense of the building's military and political history before Florence became a center of art and culture.
The climb involves several flights of stairs and narrow passageways, so comfortable shoes are recommended. It's a moderate physical effort, but the reward at the top is worth every step.
The view from the top
Once you reach the open-air terrace, Florence unfolds beneath you: the red-tiled rooftops of the historic center, the Duomo's dome rising just across the skyline, the green hills of Fiesole and Settignano in the distance, and the Arno River winding through the city. It's one of the most photographed views in Florence, and one of the few angles that lets you appreciate the layout of the entire historic center at once.
