Description
With a Palazzo Vecchio skip-the-line ticket you bypass the queue for a visit of about two hours inside the old residence of the Medici family. The building is now Florence's town hall and still houses the mayor's office.
A host waits at the Neptune Fountain in Piazza della Signoria. You enter with your ticket and an audio guide app, available in English, German, French, Italian and Spanish, plus a separate app about the city. After that you set your own pace, with no group to follow.
The rooms hold works by Florentine masters. The commentary stops at Michelangelo's Victory and Donatello's Judith and Holofernes, and tells Medici stories while you look at Vasari's fresco of the Battle of Marciano. A replica of Michelangelo's David makes a good photo. The palace was designed by Arnolfo di Cambio, and its halls show the splendour of the dukes who lived here.
