Description
This Tuscany day trip from Florence begins in front of Santa Maria Novella station, where you meet your guide and board an air-conditioned coach. The day covers four stops and ends in Florence after about twelve hours.
Siena comes first, with a local expert leading a walk past ochre buildings and terracotta roofs. You see Piazza del Campo, the setting of the Palio horse race, and enter the cathedral, then have free time for shopping or a coffee at an open-air cafe.
If you choose the lunch option, the next stop is a family-owned organic winery in Chianti. You taste four wines, among them Chianti, Vernaccia and Vin Santo, and sit down to a farmhouse lunch of homemade pasta, cured meats, local cheeses, salad and biscotti. Without lunch, you get more time in San Gimignano instead.
- San Gimignano: free time among medieval towers, squares and artisan shops
- Pisa: the Leaning Tower, the Cathedral and the Baptistery, with a short guided walk (tower entry is optional)
If the cathedral in Siena is closed for services, Palazzo delle Papesse is visited instead. A vegetarian menu is possible, but gluten-free and other diets cannot be catered for. Hotel pickup is not included, and the tour is not suitable for people with reduced mobility.
