Description

This half-day Chianti wine tour from Florence visits two wineries in the Chianti Classico area, with seven wines, local snacks and a last stop in medieval Monteriggioni.

This half-day Chianti wine tour from Florence swaps the city for vineyards, old farmhouses and lines of cypresses. An air-conditioned coach takes you into the hills, with Wi-Fi on board and a licensed tour leader who speaks English, Spanish or Italian, depending on the option you choose.

Two wineries in the heart of Chianti Classico are on the programme. At each, the winemakers walk you through vineyards and cellars and explain how the grapes are grown, harvested and turned into wine. Then comes the tasting: seven wines in all, Chianti Classico DOCG among them, served with olive oil, bruschetta, pecorino, salumi and fresh bread. You also learn how to pick out the notes in each glass and what to match it with.

  • Two wineries with a guided visit and tastings
  • Monteriggioni, a medieval hilltop village inside its stone walls, for a short walk

The tour runs about six hours. Expect some walking and a few stairs; it is not suitable for wheelchair users. It leaves from the Villa Costanza coach station, reachable by tram T1 from Santa Maria Novella. The itinerary may change, but every scheduled stop is visited.
