Description
The Three Tenors concert in Florence adds Italian song to a day among the city's sights. The venue, the Cattedrale dell'Immagine, is a short walk from Ponte Vecchio, the Uffizi Gallery and Piazza della Signoria, and its imposing interior gives the music a grand setting. Come here for a taste of Italian opera in the middle of a day of sightseeing.
The show takes its cue from the trio of Pavarotti, Domingo and Carreras. For about ninety minutes the tenors sing arias from the operas La Traviata, Rigoletto and Tosca, interleaved with Neapolitan classics: O' sole mio, Funiculì Funiculà, Torna a Surriento.
A chamber ensemble supports the singers, with a piano, a double bass and a mandolin, and two dancers move through choreographies around the music.
